Hi there sorry if anyone has noticed I got distracted but okay so there are two more films I saw at the SFJFF. The first one was
Bugsy , which is just this American film from 1991 that some of you out there have probably heard of or seen. But they do that at this festival, show old movies sometimes. It was directed by Barry Levinson and starred Warren Beatty and his future lover Annette Bening. They actually got together during shooting this film. It was part of a series they had this year called
Tough Guys: Images of Jewish Gangsters in Film. So Yeah it was about some Jewish Gangsters doing crazy things. So Beatty played this gangster from New York, who goes to Hollywood and takes some Opera singer's house and lives there. He meets the wanna be actress Virginia Hill ( Bening) and they have a thing, watch the movie. The film I realized, after awhie, is based on a real story about real people. This gangster decides to make a casino and eventually creates what we now know as the amazing thrilling Las Vegas. It is a long film that could fall under Film Noir, because it is kind of dark at times. It is really entertaining to watch all of these actors when they were so young too. So if you feel like some shooting mixed with some flashy Hollywood, then go rent this film!
